Tayo Ogedengbe Scorchers stay extended

Scorchers are thrilled to announce that club stalwart Tayo Ogedengbe is set to play his ninth season at Surrey Sports Park.

The 36-year-old veteran was the first ever signing for the franchise back in 2015, having previously played for Guildford Heat between 2009 and 2012.

Another fan favorite, the forward from Hammersmith began playing at the age of 17 for local team Ealing Tornados and won the U18 conference before a call up to the England U18 national side.

In his debut season, playing for BBL team London Capital, he averaged 7.3 points per game.

Before joining Guildford Heat in 2009 he played in Spain for Canarias Basketball Academy.

After four seasons at Guildford Heat, Ogedengbe made the move to local rivals London Lions for the 2012/13 season.

A year later the Londoner signed for French side Calais Basket Cheminots and was selected for the French National All-Star game.

Next up a move to Glasgow Rockets for a single season, where he averaged 15.3 points a game, before returning to Surrey Sports Park in 2015.

During the last eight seasons our longest serving player averaged 13.6 points a game, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

“I’m happy to be returning for another season and am excited to play again in front of our fans. The work has already started towards a successful season”,

Tayo Ogedengbe

We’re delighted to continue to work with Tayo. His experience and leadership has been a major part of this franchise for a number of years, and he deserves to build something successful here in Surrey. On the floor Tayo’s versatility and shooting always causes problems for the opposition to match up with and I think with a complete season we will be able to see Tayo continue to be at his best."
