Surrey Scorchers are thrilled to announce sharp-shooter Skyler White has re-signed for the franchise for a second season.
The 27-year-old is back with the Scorchers as a proven threat on both ends of the floor, averaging 15.5 points per game, along with 7.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks.
White finished the BBL Championship campaign as the league leader in three-pointers made, and was second in blocks per game.
He quickly became one of the signings of the season in the BBL with his influence on both ends of the floor, and scored a season-high 34 points against Ovie Soko and the London Lions at the Copper Box in January.
The 6’7 Forward will be teaming up with Tayo Ogedengbe and Lovell Cook for a second consecutive season, as well as new signing Rashad Hassan.
Delighted to be returning, he said: “I excited to be back.
“It is something I had planned on during the season, I’m glad it’s finally done.
“I love the guys here and I love the fans. I love Creon and I want to win for him.
“It’s going to be a lot easier to get gelled this year coming back to a team with guys I know.
“I’ve already been talking with Tayo about some strategies on the defensive end that we can do.
“It’s going to be more team basketball this year, we can pass the ball anywhere on the court and you know someone is going to be there who can knock the shot down.
“If I can lead the league in three points made again that would be great, I want to be top 10 in a lot of categories.
“But if I don’t appear on the stat sheet and we win, and I’m fine with that.”
Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos added: “I think Skyler is another one who really showed us what he was capable of on the court.
“Bringing back a core of last year’s team was really important to us.
“The fans enjoyed watching Skyler play, they loved the passion he brings, and we’re really happy to have him back.
“Last season he was hampered by little injuries, but he played through it, which is a testament to his character.”
